Something for Everyone!

THE ST. ALBANS HISTORICAL MUSEUM

The St. Albans Historical Society Museum is located in a gracious three-story brick schoolhouse, the former St. Albans Academy, built in 1861.  The building is one of several grand old structures surrounding  the picturesque Taylor Park green, which borders Main Street (Route 7.) According to the Vermont Museum and Gallery Alliance, the St. Albans Museum is noted for comprehensive collections of early medical instruments and X-ray equipment, railroad memorabilia, household items, decorative arts, costumes, toys, Civil War memorabilia and information about the famed St. Albans Raid by Confederate soldiers in 1864 - the Northernmost operation of the Civil War.  In addition, the Museum contains a newly constructed, three-dimensional diorama, 18-feet in length, equipped with lights and sound, which tells the story of Lake Champlain and the history of St. Albans.

Rich in its connection to the colorful history of the area, the St. Albans Historical Society Museum truly has Something for Everyone.

A nominal admission fee will be charged.

The Musuem schedule is:

  • Friday, April 24th - 12 noon to 4 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 25th - 10 am to 5 p.m.

The 4 stop elevator provides a comfortable way of reaching collections on the upper floors.  The Museum is Handicapped Accessible, and two parking spaces are available in the rear of the building.
